Allstate InsuranceCompany Overview:  Allstate Insurance is the largest publicly held personal lines insurer in the United States, and offers thirteen main insurance product lines, as well as retirement and investment services, and banking services. Known throughout the country as "the good hands" company, it was founded in 1931, and is currently comprised of more than 70,000 employees of whom 58 percent are women, and 33 percent are ethnic minorities. At last count, almost 16 million American households were using Allstate insurance products of some kind.

Auto Insurance Products: Allstate offers personal and commercial auto insurance, with special attention to teen drivers, and roadside assistance products.

Customer Service: Both quotes and general information are available to new and existing customers by web or phone, and policyholders can also use the website or phone service to check their accounts and file claims, and make payments. Phone numbers are easy to find, and there is also a collection of "virtual guides."

Consumer Satisfaction:  While the Allstate Headquarters is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, it nevertheless has an overall rating of A+ based on customer satisfaction, and customer service responses. Some individual offices have their own ratings, and consumers are advised to check their local offices specifically on the BBB's website. users rate the company with 3.81 out of a possible 5 stars, and 75% of those reviewing the company would recommend it to others. Of note is that Allstate has steep credit requirements, so <em>getting</em> Allstate coverage can be challenging, though people are treated well overall once they have it.

Connectivity: Allstate's website ( is fairly extensive, with separate headers for auto, home, and life insurance. It has sub-menus highlighting special programs, for example, information for teen drivers, as well as links to educational articles and other resources.   Is there an app for that?  Allstate offers a variety of smartphone apps including Allstate Mobile, "What's your life worth?" and "GoodRide by Allstate." All are free.
