Company Overview: GMAC Insurance is part of GM Financial Services, and is one of the GM family of companies and sister companies, but they don't really offer much company history on their website. What they do offer is an amazing array of insurance products, and a promise that customers will benefit from their sixty-plus years of experience in the industry.
Auto Insurance Products: GMAC Insurance underwrites private passenger car insurance, RV insurance, and commercial auto insurance under its own name, and partners with Hagerty for specialty and collector car insurance. It also offers special RV Mexico coverage for road-trippers who want to cross the border.
Customer Service: New and existing customers have access to web based email and an array of FAQs, as well as a toll-free number to call for everything from quotes to questions, and from claims to requests for roadside assistance.
Consumer Satisfaction: While the GMAC Insurance headquarters are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they have been given a B rating, with notes that they have an excellent record when responding to complaints. Individual GMAC Insurance branches may or may not be accredited with the BBB (some are), so consumers may wish to check on the specific branch local to them. Consumer reviews at Viewpoints.com give GMAC Insurance rating of 4.0 out of 5, and 82 percent of those who have submitted reviews would recommend the company to others.
Connectivity: GMAC Insurance can be found on the web at www.gmacinsurance.com, where there is an abundance of information about how insurance works, why insurance is necessary, how to save money on it, and what products are offered. Policyholders can pay premiums, adjust policies and file claims online.
Is there an app for that? GMAC doesn't offer its own smartphone application, but policyholders with active OnStar subscriptions can use the mobile version.
