In Brief: Nevada Bans Texting While Driving State Vehicles

In yet another move to keep the streets safer the Nevada Board of Examiners has voted to approve a ban on texting or using electronic vehicles by people driving state vehicles.

Nevada governor Jim Gibbons, attorney general Catherine Cortez Masto, and secretary of state Ross Miller all expressed their support of the ban, though officials say that emergency personnel and law enforcement officers will be exempt from the new restriction.

This ban is one of many similar rules across the country, including one handed down to U.S. federal employees.

Next year, the legislature in Nevada is expected to consider extending the ban on texting or using a cell phone while driving to the general public.
