Almost all of the larger insurance companies have unveiled iPhone apps to help their clients file claims faster, or seek out new agents, but GEICO has recently taken their love of technology a bit further. The insurer, known for amusing gecko commercials, now offers a Windows Phone 7 application called GEICO GloveBox which will allow clients with Windows 7-based smartphones to pay their bills, get policy information, and even get help when they’re changing a tire or have been in an accident.
According to Steve Smith, assistant vice president of the insurers Internet Business unit, “With Windows Phone 7, GEICO can connect with customers anywhere. Accidentally lock your keys in your car? With just a few taps, help is on the way. With GEICO GloveBox, it’s never been easier to stay current on your payments or get the help you need if you’re ever in an accident.”
In addition to rolling out the new app, GEICO has also begun supporting Windows Phone 7 as a corporate solution for its employees. Especially important is the way the mobile OS can interface seamlessly with Microsoft Office.
