IL Auto Repair Shop Closed for Workers’ Comp Violations

Last Friday, the IWCC (Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission) closed down an employer operating without insurance: Chicago-based ZRJ Auto Repair, at 2545 W. Chicago Ave.

According to the Commission’s report, in this and similar cases, the employer was given several opportunities to come into compliance with state insurance requirements before taking the step of shutting the business down.

Illinois state law authorizes the IWCC to take such actions because uninsured employers are considered to be a serious threat to public safety and welfare.

As a result of this action, the Commission commended its Insurance Compliance Division for its efforts to keep workers safe at work and the business environment more fair for employers.
