Sometimes, auto insurance companies do things that are just really cool. This is one of them.
Earlier this week, Infinity Insurance announced the launch of a program called “Read Conmigo,” which aims to help parents improve their families’ love of reading, and make reading together a part of the daily routine. It focuses on Spanish-speaking households, and is meant to foster parents’ confidence in their own reading abilities as well as children’s.
Specifically, Read Conmigo has been developed in order to support any caretakers (parents, grandparents, babysitters, etc.) with language preferences that range from English-only through completely bilingual to Spanish-only. To help foster this, a program-within-the-program is “Club Read,” a free monthly subscription service that disseminates original bilingual children’s books. So far, more than 30,000 books have been distributed to participating families.
According to Read Conmigo program director Janndee Happner, “With help from parents, growing up bilingual can be a huge advantage for these kids.”
The program debuted over the last week of April with dual events in Los Angeles, CA and Phoenix, AZ, but future events are being planned for various cities around the United States.
