Connecticut Drivers Given Extensions Due to Storms

Drivers in Connecticut have Tropical Storm (nee Hurricane) Irene to thank for the fact that they’ve been given some extra time to renew licenses and registrations, especially since they’re still dealing with power outages, storm damage, and other related delays.

Specifically, any licenses, registrations, state ID cards, or other state-issued documents that would ordinarily have expired on or after August 27th, will remain valid until September 12th, which is the last day to request renewals without them being considered late.

During that time, late fees for the named documents, as well as emissions tests, will be waived, though all fees will resume on September 13th for those who continue to let their licenses or inspections stay lapsed.

There has been no official word on whether or not local insurance companies are also giving extra time for payments and renewals.
